Wedding Videography F.A.Q.'s

Before the Lights, Camera, Action, you must ask yourself, 'how do I want my video to feel? What information will my videographer need to do their job?'

  • Do I like the 'VH-1 or MTV' style? Ie. Quick cuts, special effects, pop music
  • Do I like the photojournalism/documentary approach? Ie. Unscripted, romantic, real time story-telling with the use of narration
  • Do I like a blend of styles? The music you select to edit your Short Story Recap reflects your style.
  • Would I like two different edited versions of my day? Ie. A Short Story Recap and the Documentary long version of the entire days footage
  • Is my ceremony indoors or outdoors?
  • Will location scouting be necessary?
  • In case it rains, do I have alternative plans in place for my outdoor ceremony?
  • Would I like a Love Story or Photo Memory Montage to be shown at the Groom's Dinner or Wedding Reception? Will I need to rent a video/DVD projection system?
  • Have I considered including:
    • Childhood/engagement photos or honeymoon photos in my video
    • Pre-ceremony wedding day activities. This is candid, emotional coverage which sets up your story and provides important footage for the editing of your Short Story Recap.
    • Coverage of the engagement; dress fittings; bridal showers; lunches; weekend activities; wedding rehearsal and groom's dinner; wedding party preparations at a salon/spa
    • Post-wedding day activities: gift opening brunch; honeymoon home video footage or honeymoon photographs

The possibilities are endless for customizing your wedding video. Plan carefully...once your day is over, this milestone becomes a memory. Schedule an appointment with our studio to ask questions about how we can implement your ideas into your video. We welcome the opportunity to work with you.

  1. How do you price your services?
Since we custom build your wedding story we base our prices on the items you select from the Pricing Options Menu. Then we follow three criteria. First, we determine the number of cameras necessary to construct your story. Next, we determine the amount of time we will spend with you the day of your event. Then, we determine the effort required in post production editing that will be necessary to craft the finished story.

  2. What type of equipment do you use?
Most videographers use similar equipment, we utilize digital cameras and non-linear editing computers. Remember, it is not necessarily the equipment, but the person behind the equipment that matters.

  3. Will you be shooting and editing the video?
Yes, Ken and Terri both videotape and edit their own client's events. In addition, we have a staff of mature, professional videographers who may work along with us at your event.

  4. What formats are available for duplications?
DVD is now the most popular format - VHS is still available. High Definition (HD) will become more acceptable in the future once the conflicts and costs are reduced. We will incorporate this format when these issues are resolved.

  5. How are you dressed at our event?
We are usually dressed in dark (black) attire. We try to match the type of attire your guests will be wearing at your event.

  6. Do you include all of the footage taken the day of my event?
You will receive an edited version of your wedding day which contains most of the original footage. As an option, you may receive the original unedited raw footage of your day for your archives.

  7. How many cameras should I have present during my event?
That will depend on your budget. The more cameras you have operating during your event the more interesting your video will be to watch. It will also increase your production costs because of the additional equipment, labor, and post-production time. We recommend a minimum of two cameras during your ceremony and one to two at your reception.

  8. How visible are you to my guests during my wedding day?
A good videographer walks a fine line between getting the shots that are required for the story yet remaining as discreet as possible. Some clients prefer a passive, photo-journalistic approach to the gathering of footage. Others prefer a more directed, staged-approach intended to deliver their desired outcome. Our experience has given us the ability to produce your story in whatever style you are most comfortable with. We conduct ourselves in an unobtrusive, professional manner while simultaneously getting the images most important in telling your story.

"We love our video!!!
Thank you so much for doing such an awesome job!!
We appreciate all the time and effort you put into it!!!"
Thanks again, Dawn and Michael (June 2003)
