About Videon Productions - Who Are We?
Since you've clicked to this page you might be wondering,
"OK, I've seen your stuff but who is going to be showing up the day of my wedding?"
It is important for you to know that who you hire is as important and the results your investing in.
Your videographer may spend more time with you and your guests than any other service provider you invest in.
Therefore your videographer will make an impression on your guests. How is your videographer dressed?
How skillful are they interacting with your guests? How discreet are they in pursuing their duties?
What is their experience and training? What is their philosophy and goals in producing the finished product?
When we inaugurated Videon Productions in 1985 there were only about a half dozen "professional" wedding videographers
in the Twin Cities. Ken had graduated from San Diego State University School of Business and Terri would soon graduate from the
University of Minnesota with a degree in video production.
Through the years technology has changed our ability to improve the quality of the picture and sound
we deliver to you. Lots of new gadgets have been invented in this business allowing us to reduce the physical size of
our equipment and produce dazzling special effects in post production. Many videographers have entered and exited
our industry. But many things have remained constant. Reliability, professionalism, and customer service are the
core of our business. It means showing up on time, returning phone calls, and keeping clients informed.
It means investing in continuing training and education in our craft. It means setting a good example when we're at your event.
We want your guests to expect that your finished video will be great because your videographers were great during the wedding day.
Ken and Terri Kurita got into the business because we love to tell stories. Everyone loves a good story.
Our wedding stories have taken us through different cultures, Asian, Middle Eastern, Jewish, African, and European.
We have experienced the richness of the world's diversity of religions, music, dance, and cuisines.
But we have learned that good storytelling is universal to everyone no matter what language they speak.
Good storytelling techniques such as framing shots, pacing a segment, music selections, and timing, are learned skills.
Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane, and Ben-Hur are dated movies with few special effects.
Nevertheless these movies are loved by international audiences because they are great stories with a timeless quality.
Ken and Terri Kurita believe that your wedding video should be a great story with a timeless quality.
We design your story to be an experience from your first viewing and on your 50th anniversary screening.
We invest many hours during your wedding day and in post production editing to bring you this experience.
We are not a large- volume based studio. We accept limited number of wedding stories to produce each year.
Accordingly, we are not the least expensive videographers in the market.
However, your investment in Videon Productions will pay off each time your experience your story.
Following are their quotes from publications:
Bride's Magazine, Aug/Sept. 2001, "Keeping it Reel: The Art of Making a Blockbuster Wedding Video":
"You also want to use humor sparingly," says videographer Terri Kurita, of Videon Productions, Minnesota.
"Too much diminishes the romance of your day and makes your reel look like an episode of America's Wackiest Home Videos."
Wedding Pages/theknot.com Magazine 2000, "Permanent Memories: Professional Video Captures Wedding Images Forever":
"A bride hires a professional to tell an interesting story of her wedding day," said Ken Kurita, co-owner of Videon Productions in Minnesota.
"Professionals put a signature on a bride's wedding video that sets it apart from anything an amateur could do."
Kurita said professionals add special effects, an introduction, titles, creative camera angles, black & white, slow motion, dissolves, appropriate music, an exciting recap and the ability to tell the story in an entertaining fashion.
They bring an element of filmmaking artistry to a wedding video," he said.
Minnesota Bride Magazine, 2003, "Polling the Pros: Ken and Terri Kurita, Videon Productions":
DO: Capture the first time you see each other! Professionals can remain unobtrusive while catching the beauty of your emotions.
Do ask for a mix of documentary and photojournalism, incorporating such elements as the bride and groom getting ready, to build up the excitement on film and create an artistic story.
DON'T: Do not have all your photographs taken at the altar (unless it rains). Choose locations with beautiful outdoor scenery and structures, such as a close-by park or landmark building, especially if the church or synagogue is dark inside.
And don't forget to consult with the church or synagogue for camera restrictions.
Minnesota Bride Magazine, 2001, "Lights! Camera! Action!":
"Videos remember things differently from photographs," says Terri Kurita of Videon Productions.
"With video, you get people talking, moving, dancing, giving toasts. We preserve the exact memory in time, the whole picture.
The sights and sounds."
In the end, our mission and philosophy has remained the same, "to creatively capture the beauty of a wedding day and create a timeless story for generations to come.
Weddings and family events are special times when family and friends gather together to reunite, witness and give support to the newly married couple.
To capture the faces, the messages, the traditions, the toasts, the music, the vows, the dancing, the emotions and private moments of a family is an honor for our studio to be given this kind of trust".
